In 2000, Indonesia had a young population as 30.6% of the population was dependant (under 15 years old). There are more female adults and aged then there are males but there are more male children. However, by 2010, the adult male population is larger than the female. There are still more aged females and now more children are female than male.
It is predicted that, in 2020, Indonesia will have an aged population. Although Indonesia has a big population it has a relatively stable population increase. From 1985 to 1980 there was a decrease in the amount of births the the population started growing again. then from 2006 the number of births started decreasing again. MigrantsIn 1961, study showed that only about 50% of residents in Jakarta were born in the city, and more migrants are trying to go to the city hoping for better job opportunities. Governor officials have tried to declare the city closed, so that new migrants could not enter the city, due the the concerning population.
